May 5, 1999 The Company is pleased to announce that it is actively pursuing several internet opportunities in South and Central America with a view to establishing a presence and positioning itself for e-commerce development and expansion. Latin Americans are set to start surfing the web in a big way (Globe & Mail, Marcdh 18, 1999). They spents US$ 170 million on-line last year. However, analysts predict, the rush to get wired will drive that to US$ 8 billion a year by 2003 with the number of internet surfers expected to quadruple by then. The Company will continue to seek financing for its major gold exploration project, Tierra de Oro, or a suitable joint venture partner capable of properly evaluating this large multi-target property.
